Biography
I received a Ph.D. from Miami University (OH) in 2015. Before joining the sociology faculty in the fall of 2018 I held an NIA T32 postdoctroal fellowship in the social, medical, and economic demography of aging at Duke University. Subsequently, many of my t-shirts with a somewhat different hue of blue now stay in their drawer for safe keeping.
Research
My research broadly focuses on population health and health disparities. I have a special interest in how sociohistorical contexts shape later-life risks for morbidity and mortality as well as percieved quality of life (e.g., happiness and life satisfaction). My reseach often takes an interdisciplinary approach, as I strive to develop a more comprehensive understanding of health and health disparities both within the US and across the globe.
