Research

I am currently analyzing data and writing papers based on a project funded by the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW, DOJ) in which we evaluated a therapeutic horticulture program at a local battered women's shelter. I am also a consultant on an NIJ-funded research project that examines transitional housing programs for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV). My other writing projects include a co-edited book on gender-based violence in families, a co-authored book on students' sense of belonging, and a co-authored meta-analysis of IPV against women with disabilities. Additional research studies include an analysis of university students' perceptions of responsibility, blame, and just punishment in campus sexual assault cases; and studies of the relationships between religiosity, religious self-regulation, and IPV perpetration and victimization, including the effects of various moderating and mediating variables (e.g., alcohol use, hostile and ambivalent sexism, social dominance orientation, right-wing authoritarianism, empathy) on these relationships.
