Laura Elliott Buckner

Laura Elliott Buckner, MM, MT-BC, NICU MT, is a first year PhD student in Sociology and received their Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 2020. They also received a Graduate Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion and Master of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Kentucky in 2022 and 2023 respectively. Elliott is currently a Board Certified Music Therapist and NICU Music Therapist at UK HealthCare. They have experience working with people of varying demographics. They currently spend half of their work week providing music therapy services to adults with varying medical and cognitive diagnoses and the other half of their week providing services to pediatric and neonatal patients. Elliott is an autistic self-advocate and member of the Kentucky Advisory Council on Autism. Their research interests include provider stigma relating to substance use disorder and the models of disability.
